IW exists to serve Baltimore’s most economically distressed neighborhoods by helping minority entrepreneurs succeed. Our strategy includes identifying and supporting social entrepreneurs, focusing on neighborhood-based strategies, leveraging social enterprise business models to increase economic activity (rising household incomes), and solving critical social challenges in communities by leveraging the lived experiences of those living in and from those communities. In our first 10 years of operation, IW seeks to help neighborhoods launch and grow 250 social enterprises that will create 5,000 new local jobs and attract $100M to Baltimore’s neighborhood economies.
